Very large Fullers pub but quite small bar area. Nice interior but its probably been messed about over the years.Friendly fast service from the barmaids.Massive gardens for summer drinkers.Fullers beers but Darkstar as well.Tried the guest Castle Rock beer which was good but expensive compared to other local pubs.

One of the two Fullers pubs that are a short walk north of Brentford station, but being the wrong side of the M4 flyover are psychological a lot further away when looking on the map.
Paid a visit to this one of the two for a lunchtime pint and spot of lunch before visiting the four Griffin Park pubs before Brentford move out to their new home in Kew and thus put their continued existence in doubt.
Yes this one is now opened out and at some point has been given a modern makeover. The wooden fronted U shaped bar is in the front section of what was the original corner pub and the pub now stretches back into a further wooden floored area more aligned to dining and what looked to me an additional carpeted dining room extension with a large ceiling fanlight. And then beyond this was a smart outside section with pine wood tables and metal chairs and then undercover booth seating sections on the far wall.
If entering through the Boston Park Road door the part of the bar directly in front of you has a bank of six real ale hand pumps. Unfortunately for my visit four of these were badged for Pride but luckily Fullers Rocky Red and a very good Dark Star Pale Ale was on the other two. Then as you go round the bend of the bar further groups of taps have keg offerings from Fullers as well as offerings from Camden and Beavertown.
I agree with the previous reviewer that the dining section does have a bit of a corporate feel to it, but the front section still feels like a proper pub, with its high seating by the windows and normal seating on the far side and a couple of flat screen teles. I was eating but didn’t experience any of the table service pestering issues of the previous reviewer and was allowed to eat my burger on one of the high tables in the front section and enjoy the sports highlights on one of the teles.
I quite liked it here and was a good start to my afternoon crawl of Griffin Park.

I suspect that this pub is now somewhat different to the secluded backstreet boozer that Steve visited over eleven years ago. It's now modern in appearance, having been completely opened up inside. The pub area is at the front, with the usual mix of furnishings, with the extension at the back on the right essentially being the dining room, which is carpeted and furnished exclusively with normal tables and chairs. Obviously as we arrived (a bit after 2.0 PM) we were asked if we were eating with them, and even though we weren't eating, we were allowed to sit in the dining area having been informed that most diners had left by then. So, it's OK to sit there as long as you aren't depriving diners of a table. Fair enough. But we still got asked a couple of times if we wanted to order some food, so table service seems to be the order of the day.

We did spot a signed Brentford FC shirt on a wall in the dining area, and the doors leading into what used to be the Saloon Bar had some nice (Victorian or Edwardian) cut glass in the panels.

Being a Fuller's pub, the beers on were London Pride and their new California Pale, with Dark Star Hophead coming soon. Also being Fuller's the food wasn't particularly cheap, with the crunchy chicken wrap weighing in at £8.45. It's a bit corporate in here now, but it still fits in the "OK" category.
