There were a couple of ales on when I was in here on Wednesday lunchtime - London Pride and Timothy Taylor Landlord (£1.40 a half). A third handpump was unclipped. I saw food being devoured, but there were no menus on the tables in the area at the front where I was sitting.
It was heaving when we arrived at around 1.30 PM, with quite a lot of people seemingly hanging around apparently waiting for something to happen. A lady came up to us to enquire whether we were looking for something to eat, and when we said we just wanted a drink she said she would find us a table - but she didn't come back to us and after we got our drinks a table became vacant so we bagged it. Then most of the people left - it almost looked as if it was a charabanc trip waiting to depart. Anyway, the pub became quite comfortable after they departed.
There's a fairly long and sort of rambling bar counter on the left, with bare boarded drinking/dining areas at the front and to the right of it, leading to a carpetted room at the back, in turn leading out to the pub garden. There are a few tall tables/tall stools at the front, plus some chunky solid wooden tables, with normal tables and chairs in the carpetted area at the back. Naturally there's plenty of Christmas tat around at this time of year, plus plenty of the surfaces (including the bar counter front) are painted that ubiquitous gastro-grey colour.
By coincidence, we ended up back in this pub after we just missed our train from Brentford Station later in the evening, when there was a very well attended pub quiz on the go. It certainly looks like a thriving pub. On the whole I reckon it's a cut above the standard station pub, though by no means a destination pub.

This is actually located on Station Road despite its address. Externally, this has a white/blue/turquoise colour scheme and internally is horseshoe-shaped, with a semi-dining area to the far right. A wall-mounted TV showed a PL game, perhaps a little too loudly and a couple of people were tucking into Sunday roasts without playing attention to it. Three stumps - two unclipped, and just London Pride available for an Edward Munch Scream-inducing £4.40. To be fair, it was in great condition, but you'd expect that being in the vicinity. OK, but despite the makeover, Steve C wasn't missing much 10 years ago.

This afternoon I actually got of my train to have a pint in here as I had not been before and after thirteen (yes thirteen) minutes I hadn't managed to get served so I left and got on the next train to Kew.
Landlord, Pride and Rosey Nosey were available along with some standard lager. I found the barmaid to be quite flustered serving a work party and the manageress was more interested sorting out food orders. A proper barman/maid would have had no problem with the amount of customers, but this outfit seem to fall short of my required standards which are very easy to attain. It's unfortunate as the pub isn't that bad inside and there is a pool table and also a dartboard case on the wall, but no oche so I'm not sure if there is a dartboard actually in there.
This could be a great pub and maybe I walked in at the wrong time, but I still wasn't very impressed.
