An attractive looking pub in the centre of this very pleasant village, like The Hinds Head just along the road, it is owned by celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal and whilst is did perhaps have something of an emphasis on dining, it didn’t appear to be ... [more>]

Next door to Leytonstone fire station from the outside the Bell was clearly a three-room pub back in the day, but is now one opened up L shaped space around the central serving bar. Carpeted in the main bar and then wooden floored in the section to t... [more>]

Impressive Victorian corner pub exterior and the usual shabby chic Antic interior but perhaps not as shabby as some of the others of their chain I visited, and it was good to find it still in rude health some eight years since Antic took it over. Ope... [more>]

It was fairly quiet in here at the time of my most recent visit, around knocking off time on a Friday. Numerous hand pumps featured three Exit 33 beers and five guests (plus a guest keg from Sheffield's newest brewery, St Mars of the Desert - see pho... [more>]

It was very busy and rather noisy when I was here on Friday afternoon, with what I reckon would be a largely post-work crowd, mostly 30-something males. There are seven hand pumps, as far as I could make out with a crowd around the bar, four beers fr... [more>]

I think its safe to say I don’t think I am the target demographic for this one. I popped in for a quick one on a Wednesday evening when their pub quiz was in full flow and the guy running it behind the DJ deck had a brightly coloured hair extension t... [more>]

Lovely cosy village pub just outside Ormskirk. though unsurprisingly majoring on food it’s still very much a traditional locals pub at the bar with three decent ales on today. Old style decor and friendly regulars make this a very worthwhile place to... [more>]

As described by K below. Friendly service when we doubled the paying custom on a weekday lunchtime, beer range majored on Doombar. Seemed a bit sterile and chunky furniture didn't suggest comfort. Nice to sit outside though. Not a destination pub... [more>]

This pub dates from at least the mid-19th century when the landlord was a one William Woodin and rebuilt in 1893. This used to be a regular haunt for me around 20 years ago, due to convenience for meeting up rather than quality. I stopped coming here... [more>]

Situated in a charmingly Dickensian enclave of east London, this pub was rebuilt for Whitbread in 1902. I came here once about 10 years ago after a long walk in the scorching weather so plumped for a pint of ice cold mineral water! A return the other... [more>] |
