Called in here on Friday myself at about 17:15, so may have missed Ray & Fiona by a couple of hours.

I didn't stay for a drink as the prat behind the bar insisted I had a plastic pint pot despite at least half of the other drinkers having glass. He did actually say "more than my jobs worth on Foodie Friday, we all have to do it on the Market Place".

Project 53 next door were serving normal glasses!

Not a great experience for a first time visit, but I'll probably try again in the future.

Closed its doors in 1951 and was turned into various business down the years. After a spell of being completely shut down this phoenix rose from the ashes and reopened its doors as a pub only three weeks ago. Six handpumps on the bar along with three good sized German beer fonts serving 11 beers. We went for the First Chop Brewery Hoppy Blonde which was a decent pint.
The interior is traditional, with the bar facing you as you enter. The bar had a stained plywood front and a solid oak counter. The interior had the original exposed ceiling beams, feature wallpapered areas and a log burning stove, along with a couple of chesterfield sofas in the far left hand corner. This isn't a large pub so seating space is to a minimum. It was quite busy on our Friday lunchtime visit, but we did manage to spot some bar stools and a drinking ledge at the far end of the bar, which was good as you can observe the beer pouring from behind the bar and chat to the bar staff, who were very friendly.
