Laura Hadland left this review about The White Lion
Community pub with dog friendly facilities. Large beer garden and car park which has the Old Sawley Brewing Company at the back. Range of Old Sawley beers on the bar, along with two guests and a selection of ciders, as well as larger commercial lagers etc. Large bar with plenty of seating, woodfired pizza made outside on weekends, pool table, darts, bar billiards available. Large function room available for hire.

Real Ale Ray left this review about White Lion
Home of Sawley Ales, which is brewed in a microbrewery behind the pub. The bar was found on the left of entrance and the lounge on the right, served by a central bar. Both rooms are traditional in style, wallpapered walls, timber floors and exposed ceiling beams. The bar side was quite interesting with a collection of copper pans hanging down from the ceiling beams and old pottery flagons and beer bottles displayed around the room. There was also a small snug like room off the main bar area and an entrance to the beer garden.
Five ales from Sawley, one guest, which was Bass and 10 ciders was the choice on our visit. So we went for the Sawley Little Jack and Sawley Gold, both were in good shape and reasonably priced.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about White Lion
Traditional alehouse, retaining two separate bars. Refurbished with attractive light decor. Bar billiards. Warm fires on a winter's day. Home of the Old Sawley brewery, currently brewing upstairs (but with a new micro-brewery building under construction at the rear). Eight handpumps, offering seven interesting real ales - including their excellent Toll Bridge Porter (£2.85) - and a cider. Well worth seeking out.
