The Jersey Lily is just up from the Black Boy.
Once inside there is a single oblong shaped room which runs to the rear, the bar is on the mid right side, the floor is bare boarded, there are tall tables and stools to the front and bench seating with chairs opposite the bar,the rear area is up one step, there is normal tables and chairs and more bench seating here.
The pub is run by Wickwar Brewery so there was a good choice of their beers on the bar,i had a drink of Wikwar BOB which went down well, the other beers noted were Falling Star,Cotswold Way and Butcombe IPA.
There were TVs showing BT sports and background music was playing.
I was happy enough having a drink in this pub.

Recently taken over by Wickwar Brewery and refurbished, this is now a much more contemporary pub than previously, although the basic layout remains unchanged. It’s a single room bar on a couple of levels along with a couple of small tables on the pavement outside. Bar staff seemed quite switched on and immediately cleared and wiped tables as soon as anyone left.

Décor wise, the paintwork is the usual shades of Farrow & Ball greens and greys, and this extends to the wood panelling on the lower part of the walls whilst there was some flock wallpaper above. The flooring is wood strip and there are a number of Victorian portrait photographs on the wall as well as a large gilded mirror or two. The lighting is unusual with a selection of different lamp styles such as bulkhead lamps on the ceiling and large clear globes in the window at the front. A plasma was stuck up in one corner which looked a little out of place, but fortunately this was not in use.

We didn’t eat on this occasion, but the menu looked to consist of a concise selection of “pub grub” dishes such as pulled pork, chilli, ploughman’s and a range of Pie Minister pies. These were mostly priced around the £6/£7 mark.

Beers on tap were Wickwar Gold and Bob plus Deuchars IPA. Their own Jersey Lily ale was apparently coming soon. Ciders were well represented with Symonds Founders Reserve, Scrumpy Jack, Thatcher’s Traditional and Strongbow. Other drinks seemed to follow something of an extra cold theme, with Heineken pumps covered in ice and displaying the temperature (-1°C), Guinness Extra Cold and Fosters Super Chilled.
