The Port of Call is situated on a narrow road and up a short steep hill from the Kings Arms.
Once inside there is a single L shaped room with the bar facing, the room is carpeted and has comfy bench seating and chairs to the right, there was also a real fire on the go to the right, giving the pub a cosy feel, there was a TV on to the rear right which was showing football previews.
There was a good choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Dawkins Tremdious Delicious, which was a very nice drink, the other real ales noted were Butcombe Bitter,Taylor Landlord,Longman american pale ale and Milk Street The usual.
There was decent background music playing.
I thought this was a very pleasant pub to have a drink in,just a shame it was empty on my Saturday dinner visit.

Recently re-opened after a spell of closure, it has also had something of a refurbishment but fortunately this has been done quite sympathetically and doesn’t in any way detract from the character of the pub.

The pub consists of a single, L-shape room with a couple of old oak beams on the ceiling, a sanded wooden floor and some areas of exposed brickwork. Elsewhere, wood panelling on the lower part of the walls had been painted very dark grey and there was white plasterwork above. A few colourful oil colours hung on the wall and there was an old ship’s bell on the floor. A couple of wood burning stoves were recessed in to alcoves. There is also a terraced garden, although we did not investigate this.

Beers on tap were Dawkins Bristol Blond, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Longman American Pale Ale, Piston Broke and Butcombe. The solitary cider meanwhile was Orchard Pig’s Reveller.
