A popular pub towards the top end of the Whiteladies Road strip, this was taken on by the Wickwar brewery a few years back and generally seems busy whenever we call by, with a good mix of punters in. It’s a single room layout internally, although divided in to a couple of different areas with a front and a rear section.

Décor wise, the paintwork is the usual shades of Farrow & Ball greens and greys, and this extends to the wood panelling on the lower part of the walls whilst there was some flock wallpaper above. The flooring is wood strip and there are a number of Victorian portrait photographs on the wall as well as a large gilded mirror or two. The lighting is unusual with a selection of different lamp styles such as bulkhead lamps on the ceiling and large clear globes in the window at the front, with the obligatory exposed filament light bulbs. Seating is a mixture of high stools and tables at the front, with some padded bench seating and regular chairs elsewhere. A couple of TV screens were showing the football, although fortunately the volume was off so this was not too intrusive.

Beers on tap were all from Wickwar with their Stand Up IPA, Bob and Try Time. A further pump for Timothy Taylor Landlord appeared to have run out, whilst a fifth was unused. Ciders meanwhile were Symonds Founders Reserve and Inch’s Rolling Apple which was a new one on me, but went down very well.

The Jersey Lily is just up from the Black Boy.
Once inside there is a single oblong shaped room which runs to the rear, the bar is on the mid right side, the floor is bare boarded, there are tall tables and stools to the front and bench seating with chairs opposite the bar,the rear area is up one step, there is normal tables and chairs and more bench seating here.
The pub is run by Wickwar Brewery so there was a good choice of their beers on the bar,i had a drink of Wikwar BOB which went down well, the other beers noted were Falling Star,Cotswold Way and Butcombe IPA.
There were TVs showing BT sports and background music was playing.
I was happy enough having a drink in this pub.
