The Nags Head on Carlton Hill had had a £100,000 refurbishment 8 Months back. The bar is in the centre of the room as you enter with an opened up room to the right that housed a pool table and there were tv screens dotted around. There was also a seating area up a level that bent round the back of the pub and was carpeted with comfy bench seating. that on my visit did not seem much at all and I can only assume the previous pub was a bit of a state as this was a very average chain like bog standard joint. The pub is very bright and has light wood paneling and walls that intensify the brightness. This is a bit of a boozer that is popular with young males that congregate round the pool table and hover around the bar watching the sports screens. Beer wise there were two real ale pubs both clipped with Harvest ales and I believe this is a permanent feature as I don’t think they get any guests. Two pint of this was ordered for me and my friend at £2.90 each but it was cloudy and tasted like vinegar! The bar man was very Naive about what I was saying to him but was quite apologetic and offered to change my beer (with ought me having to pay for another one that I found hysterical but managed to keep a straight face) so we swapped for two pints of Guinness that were served in fosters glasses WTF!? The Guinness was actually pretty fresh so not all bad but with no drinkable cask beer and the type of pub it is I won’t be found in here very much in the near future.

The Nags Head was a Shipstones tied house and it is on the steep part of carlton hill as you enter the middle of town.
I dont think this pub sells any real ale but it was'nt open when photo was took so im not 100% sure about this.
