Soul Bar

Soul Bar

CamborneCornwall

Recommended by Graham Coombs

A less-than-exciting modern bar in a newish building with some pretty ghastly plastic furniture. The only (keg) offerings were Carlsberg and Tetley's Smooth, and the latter was undrinkable, which is quite an achievement. Poor.

The John Francis Basset (JD Wetherspoon)

Ridiculously-large Wetherspoon's with hotel attached. A reasonable selection of ales and plenty of room, although service was a bit patchy. Tidy, but not much atmosphere.
Tyacks Hotel

Tyacks Hotel

CamborneCornwall

Recommended by Graham Coombs

A small town hotel in two contrasting parts. The lounge bar and restaurant is fairly smart and furnished traditionally. The rather large public bar is more like a club, with dark décor, coloured lighting, pool tables etc. Beers from St Austell, with ... [more>]
Waggoners Arms

Waggoners Arms

CamborneCornwall

Recommended by Graham Coombs

Fairly basic town local with a small bar at the front and quite a large area behind. A friendly-enough welcome though and they do at least sell Doom Bar on handpump, although sadly it had been drunk out the previous evening and was awaiting a new del... [more>]
The Plume Of Feathers

The Plume Of Feathers

RedruthCornwall

Not expecting much from the outside and surroundings but was pleasantly surprised. The large interior has lots of beams, low ceilings and dark woodwork which gives a nicely historic, traditional feel. There are plenty of corners and some good pub fur... [more>]
The Red Lion

The Red Lion

Princes RisboroughBuckinghamshire

Recommended by E TA

A large Georgian inn that does B&B at the least luxurious end of the spectrum. There is a tight carpark at the side but not much in the way of garden as most of the original grounds have now been developed. The bar is quite dingy, and the décor is ... [more>]
Fox & Hounds

Fox & Hounds

RedruthCornwall

Recommended by Graham Coombs

Picturesque, flower-hung roadside pub with a brightly modernised interior but retaining beams and stonework. The bar is not huge, but has a separate opening into a games room containing pool and darts. Much of the right hand side of the pub is given ... [more>]
New Inn

New Inn

RedruthCornwall

Recommended by Graham Coombs

Despite being in area with a lot of residential development, the New Inn retains something of a village feel albeit very modernised. The inside has been opened out and given a 1990s sort of overhaul with mixed results; not sure about the wall-hung fa... [more>]
Kettlesmith's Walcot

Kettlesmith's Walcot

BathSomerset

Recommended by Blackthorn _

A recent opening at the top end of Walcott Street, it is housed in what is presumably shop conversion and most likely qualifies as a micro-pub going not only on the small size, but the general lack of any music, food, TV, fruit machines and so on. T... [more>]
The Seven Stars Inn

The Seven Stars Inn

TruroCornwall

Lovely little stone-built pub by the school and recreation ground well used by the locals. Nice and cosy, aged feel with lots of stone and wood in the main L-shaped room, with a newer games room round the back. Limited outdoor seating. Good home-made... [more>]

The Stag Hunt Inn

TruroCornwall

Nice stone-built pub wedged in the fork of a road junction. One cosy main room with a good bar and a few tables, with a larger room behind which wasn't in use at time of visit. Behind the pub is a grassed garden, car park and what I presume is a peta... [more>]
Games Room

Games Room

FalmouthCornwall

Student bar on two floors above coffee shop, featuring a whole lot of pool and snooker tables, table tennis, darts, table football and many board games. A mundane range of keg beers with one handpump serving Doom Bar - to be fair condition of the lat... [more>]
Small Ships

Small Ships

FalmouthCornwall

Recommended by Graham Coombs

A small cellar bar which acts as the brewery tap for Black Rock Brewing. A cosy place with a couple of settees and a small bar. One draught ale now available along with a couple on keg. Was formerly Rumours, a long-standing wine bar.
The Grapes

The Grapes

FalmouthCornwall

One of a number of pubs on Falmouth's main street with a modernised interior and views over the harbour. The interior is decorated with blue panelling and white walls (apart from a small red-panelled area at the front) with rows of fairly plain table... [more>]
The Plough

The Plough

BattleEast Sussex

Recommended by Steve C

Dating from circa 1805 the Plough Inn is a freehouse located on a winding lane in the small rural village of Crowhurst. The building is set back from the lane by a beer garden that slopes up to the pub entrance. The beer garden consists of a small la... [more>]
