An unusual-looking building inasmuch as it stands out on its corner plot with its two storeys quite differently from anything else around. Also, "McNaboe's" is painted on the Albany Road side fascia. Unashamedly Irish, I walked over the mosaic entran... [more>]

One roomed place just before the railway arches. Bar to rear. No real ales, just four (crap) keg fonts. Don't see the point.

You wouldn't know this was here but for the wall sign. As the name implies, the bar is down some steps! Once in, the bar is to the left, with various coloured keg fonts and Guinness. No prizes for guessing what I had.

Called in by chance last evening - hadn't been in for some time. Not too bad but could have done with more bar staff. Had a pint of Moorhouse's Witch Wood which was on form. Not a bad place.

30th September 2016: A pub has been on this site since the 17th century and the current edifice was rebuilt in 1894 with the finery installed in 1897; the pub is Grade II Listed. The place has a beautiful original entrance hall covered with mirrors,... [more>]

This is a wonderful must-visit pub with a fantastic ornate interior well described below. It is indeed very narrow and can be extremely cramped so a long stay may not be possible. Great Guinness of course and a very friendly barmaid complete the ense... [more>]

Not visited for a good few years, this is a Fuller's Ale & Pie House conversion of a former commercial building. Ornate and opulent inside and a magnet for tourists visiting the Tower of London across the road. Fuller's ales on offer, if you've been ... [more>]

A fine building from outside with any semblance of internal character now removed, leaving a high-ceilinged rectangular room with mushroom-coloured walls, faux-stone tiled floor and fake marble-topped Indy Motor Speedway-shaped bar. Varying wall deco... [more>]

Roadside pub with a typical St Austell modernisation: some feature stonework, loud carpets, light wood and lounge-type furniture. Bar in the middle, with laid-up tables either end. Much as I like to see a pub with a strong local following, they clear... [more>]

Being in an area full of campsites and surf beaches, the Red River has very much a holiday feel. Much of the pub has tables laid up for diners, but not in a posh way. Saving grace is the nice row of mainly local ales on handpump, which certainly seem... [more>]

Plain but friendly locals' pub in a back part of town, with a slightly run-down feel. The ceiling reveals there were probably several rooms, but all now knocked through into one which extends back a long way, past a pool table and a music area. There... [more>]

Despite 'Country Pub' emblazoned across the front, this felt more like a suburban pub with its refurbished interior. A narrow side room is laid up for dining, with a larger games area behind leading through to the car park, which is accessed from the... [more>]

A pleasant medium-sized pub in a terrace up on the hill with views out over the river estuary. The main area has traditional furnishings and a long central bar, with a side area boasting a dart board, although hidden behind a table, and there is a fu... [more>] |
