Bell & Crown

Bell & Crown

ChardSomerset

Recommended by E TA

A Victorian town pub with a very local feel, scruffy outside btu very welcoming within. There is a car park at the back, from which a steep flight of steps leads to a rather bleak back door, or alternatively you could walk around the front to the ma... [more>]

the bar and restaurant of the Royal Kings are open to non-residents again. I have only glanced through the window but there is no real ale and it looks a touch on the upmarket side. there's a cocktail and champagne bar downstairs as well.

Strangely no where near the, or actually any previous, station, one L shaped room with L shaped bar (nearly), 7 pulls and some interesting kegs. Mainly woody in feel, apart from the brick bits, there’s some upholstered furniture and a partly tiled ba... [more>]

I have never really been a massive fan of Sam Smiths beers and as such have never really gone out of my way to venture into Sam Smiths pubs. The last one was over a year ago and my memory of the Old Brewery Bitter on cask didn't really leave me crav... [more>]

I had previously been to the Old Harkers Arms in August 2017, but was the last pub of the crawl before getting the train back from Chester, and being a Saturday evening it was rather busy. I was in Chester earlier in the week and, despite not initia... [more>]

Further to my previous review, I have been a couple of times since and noticed that the hand pulls are not always clipped, though there is a chalk board next to the pumps listing what is on. There is also a bigger chalk board above the bar that list... [more>]

Four hand pulls at the bar. At the time of my visit these were dispensing neck Lifter (Jennings), Saddle Tank (Marstons), Jaipur (Thornbridge) and Sir Philip (Wincle). A half of the Sir Philip set me back £1.80 or so, and was an OK if unremarkable ... [more>]

Thirsty Giraffe

Newcastle under LymeStaffordshire

Recommended by ROB Camra

We were in Newcastle for two nights and visited this bar on the Thursday, so we missed it out during the PuG crawl. It's very café like with simple tables and chairs along with the rather large giraffe. Longer descriptions are given in some of the re... [more>]

Whitworth Band Club

RochdaleManchester (Greater)

Although nominally a club it seems to cater for locals and visitors alike. We were taken in by two friends and bought drinks with no problems. It's very small for a club with there just being a single room with various areas. The surprising thing was... [more>]

A prominent and good sized street corner pub, it’s located in the back streets a short distance away from Cheltenham’s town centre, but is certainly worth taking a short stroll if you want a little more relaxed ambience than you’ll find in many of th... [more>]

A very stylish bar that used to be just the waiting area for the attached restaurant. After a period of closure this is now open as a bar in its own right. There are two real ales on the bar, but they are rather expensive.

Visited yesterday while in Sale. I have been once before so decided it was time to refresh my memory. At the time of my visit four hand pulls, one of which was off, the remaining three being Autumn Red by Caledonian, Bonkers Conkers by Greene King ... [more>]

Visited while in Sale yesterday. I was the only customer in at 11:45 but a few more appeared shortly before 12. This is a Greene King pub so despite having 8 hand pulls there isn't always anything to get excited about, or so was my experience on my... [more>]
