Allegedly opens at 1pm in the week (according to their Facebook page) and indeed there was a chap opening the shutters etc just before 1pm, though come quarter past I found the door to be locked, so not sure what's going on there. Been about three y... [more>]
The J P Joule (JD Wetherspoon) Recommended by Rob Hunter |
It had been a few years since I have been in the J P Joule, however I found nothing major appears to have changed when I visited yesterday lunch time. Downstairs there is booth seating to the side wall, the rest of the seating is made up of standard... [more>]

The Dog and Muffler Inn, is a country pub set in spectacular surroundings, but a little off the beaten track. If you're on foot, there is a steep road which is alright when walking to the pub, but some exertion is required for the journey back. But ... [more>]

Brand new Spoons well described below with a decent choice of beers as part of the latest festival. I can think of much worse places to kill time waiting for a train!

Old school Spoons not helped by the scaffolding all around it when I called. I managed to fight my way through the smokers standing in front of the "No smoking outside this doorway" sign! Usual layout and 4 guest ales including Upham's Autumn Leaves,... [more>]

Very impressive building a stone's throw from Tower Bridge. A fairly standard Spoons inside with at least 4 ales on. The IPA I tried was in good shape. I would happily call again.

Nice little pub near the train station and well used by football fans passing through. Bouncer on the door as you would expect. 4 beers from the Young's range in OK shape.

Another decent little pub tucked away from the main road. A good pint of Adnams Ghost Ship. I would happily call in again.

Old pub that is owned by the National Trust. Worth a visit on that basis for me and 5 beers on was a bonus. I tried the house George Ale and it was fine. Bigger than it looks and extremely busy.

Yet another decent pub near London Bridge station. 6 beers on when I called. Service was good even though the place was rammed.

Another packed pub, it took a little persuasion for the bouncer to let me in! 4 beers from the Young's range on. To be honest I spent my time watching the argument between the bouncers and some other potential customers who obviously didn't say the r... [more>]

More a comment than a review. I fell foul of the old "no football fans" line so didn't get to visit - even though the football fans I was due to meet were inside! Plenty other pubs nearby....

An odd place for a pub but it works. Great selection of cask, keg and bottled beers which are not that expensive. I have been looking forward to visiting this one and I am glad I did. I didn't attempt the spiral staircase!

Another one that was on my hit list. Just as good as it's twin over the road. Well worth a visit.
