The Curious tavern is actually the bar for the Mercure Hotel and can be accessed from either the hotel reception or a small external door on Broad Street.

The hotel is one of the oldest in the city and has changed hands a good few times in my life.

As mentioned below, the pub has a couple of hand pulls on the bar. On my last visit it had Harvest Pale and something from Totally Brewed. Far better places to go for a beer within spitting distance, don't loiter in here too long.

The window in the floor actually gives you a view into the caves that riddle Nottingham. These specific caves are part of Lost Property, which is a bar around the corner on Goose Gate and is part of the same bar chain as the Curious. This is a cocktail and fizzy beer place that is actually worth a visit for the environment. You won't find any signs telling you where it is but the presence of a bouncer in the evening gives it away.

Lost property is on three subterranean levels, the best of which are the caves. It is a one in/one out place due to strict H&S requirements because of the limited access.

Next to the Mercure Hotel and a door at the far right opens into it. Dimly lit place with the bar on the left. Three hand pumps with the strongest being Blue Monkey Infinity @ 4.5% ABV. There is a glass window overlooking the cellar which was quite disconcerting if you didn't know it was there.

A fairly run-of-the-mill pub. 2 roomed with the larger room having booths and tables. There were 3 real ales available with 2 offering Castle Rock beers and the other Bombardier on my visit. I didn't go in the smaller room so I've no idea what its like.
