A popular bar in the middle of King Street, it’s a decent size and consists of a couple of rooms either side of a central corridor. Upstairs is an Italian restaurant which was always very much of the old school variety, although I have not been there for many years. Food is also offered downstairs, although I think this may be limited to pizzas, and these were still coming out at 11:45pm on a recent Saturday evening visit.

The walls and ceiling are completely covered with a montage of posters advertising shows from the nearby theatres, both the Old Vic and the Hippodrome. This is a colourful display and makes for interesting reading. Opposite the small corner bar were a selection of black and white photographs from actors that have appeared there, including a very young looking Martin Clunes. The flooring is a mixture of a parquet style wood floor and quarry tiles, whilst an old piano was off to one side.

Unfortunately there were real ales on tap, just keg Courage Best, whilst the solitary cider was Symonds Founders Reserve. Overall this is a decent enough pit stop, but is unlikely to be a destination of choice for any pub aficionados.

I've only ever been in here for drinks over 19 years and noticed it wasn't added here. Even their website refers to it as a bar.
