Classic Sam Smith’s pub that fits perfectly into its location – it looks a treat from outside and doesn't disappoint much within. The main bar has pretty much the full array of Sam's produce and the cask OBB was in good shape. There are some booths here with a spur off left. Further back is a carpeted seating area. Decor consists of black painted beans and salmon shade painted walls. A quiet pub, with customer chatter making the atmosphere and there were a pleasingly broad range of punters in situ. All rather enjoyable and a wonderful respite from the beer bores and powder puff students that frequent many of the other bars in this famous Bristol street nowadays.

If you want to see a fine example of a traditional pub interior, then you certainly have to visit this Sam Smiths house. The entrance is a narrow timber panelled lobby, which leads you into the main middle bar area. The bar counter was curved and split into two sides, both sides displaying the full range of Sam Smith offerings. There was a very comfortable front lounge with a lit fire and a couple of red leather chesterfield settees, which suited the oak panelled room. I also noticed four private timber drinking booths in the main bar along the side wall. Beyond this was a rear back room with a beautifully carved oak fireplace.

This is a decent pub with a pleasant ambience in the central area, certainly one of the better ones nearby. They always seems to close at 11:00, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, it keeps out some of the riff raff :-) "Beers" are all from Samuel Smith's, so no proper ales, although their organic cider certainly beats the Strongbow that many nearby establishents sell.
A bit on the pricey side though - over £8
for two half's of cider, a coke and a rum and coke.
