UPDATE: This place has closed, well, it hasn't, but has..... if you are sitting comfortably, I will begin. Apres has relocated from this building, to the former Flints, on Belwell Lane, just around the corner,. This building is now the Mare Pool, a Wetherspoon's offering. As this is already on PG, I have simply closed this one off on the website.

JULY 2010: A rather unimpressive modern undressed brick building, with red awnings and bushes with little red lights on in the patio area. It is a part of a new shopping development in the centre of Mere Green and nicely overlooks the car-park, as well as The Speckled Hen.
The interior is open plan but does have three areas. The first is a foody part, to the left of the entrance, with wood floor and red chairs. The second area is a lounge type part to the right of the entrance, which has red sofas, comfy chairs and big lamp shades. The decor here is a light patterned wallpaper with matching patterned curtains in red, oh! and red carpet and ceiling. The bar area is sectioned off with a wood and red partition. It has red comfy furniture, cream tile floor and a long bar - there is a DJ area as well. The place isn't of course aimed for people like me - and it showed, with most of the clientele being young and the background music being charty, but at a decent level. There were lots of sports TVs.
Beer; tap stuff, with Peroni, which was fine. There was a 'trendy' Hobgoblin handpull and i was allowed a taster as i was a bit suspicious - thankfully really, as it was awful. The service was fine - hence the taster, but the young lady behind the bar was completely at a loss as to what Hobgoblin was and that a vinegar smell means that it isn't all it should be.
It may sound as if i am really having a go at this place, but actually i am not. It was by far better than the Lichfield experience i had, when i simply just walked out. It is just not my kind of place - a bit of overkill on the red - but i know from friends - well, usually their kids, that Apres is popular with them. I would rather drink here than Barleys over the road.
