The Lime Kiln is a plain looking pub.
Once inside there is a small square shaped room to the front, the floor is bare boarded, the bar is on the right side, the seating is normal tables and chairs and tables with small stools, there is a smaller room to the rear which is square shaped and has normal tables and chairs.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Wimbledon SW19,which was a decent drink, the other real ales were Yeovil Best,Canopy Casino and Electric Bear Inspector Mouse.
The background music was crap.
I was happy enough having a drink in this pub.

Pub 5 on a recent Bristol crawl and not really a good one I am afraid. Lots of beer on the bar, but all of it pretty mediocre in quality. the pub was freezing cold and the toilets stank to high heaven. I would agree that it is a work in progress but I would have expected a little more progress from July 2015 to March 2016.

This used to be called the Horse & Groom, and re-opened earlier this year in its current guise, under the management of a landlord that used to have The Seven Stars. Unfortunately it will have lost some of its potential customers when the nearby council offices closed not so long ago. It's almost small enough to be a micropub, and it's very minimalist in a sort of micropub way. The only decor I noticed was some sort of log/wood thing in one of the corners.

As small as it is, they had six ales on, and helpfully each pump had a little sticker in front of it specifying the ale style. This is particularly helpful, as one of the ales was a dark, wheat, unfined beer which could take one by surprise if you didn't know what you were getting. I had the Tyne Bank Brewery Dark Brown Ale, at £1.65 for a half, which was in excellent shape. I was in this pub as the first pub on a Bristol pub crawl on Saturday lunchtime, and thus it was jam packed with CAMRA types, so obviously not a typical session.

This is very much a real ale drinker's pub. It's definitely worth including on any Bristol crawl.
