Well described below. This is a popular pub and was quite busy on our visit. 3 ales on - Pedigree, Oxford Gold and the house beer, Lillington Regimental Ale. We went for the latter and it was an excellent pint. Worth a visit.

Proclaims itself to be Lichfield's oldest pub (although I think the Duke of York would dispute that), the place certainly retains some character in the front and back bar areas. The former has been partially opened-out into a 'L'-shaped layout with corner section strangely located down a single step from each arm. The rear bar has a more regimented arrangement of tables and is perhaps more suited to dining. Additional seating is also provided in a former courtyard to the side which is now covered and enclosed. Traditional wooden furniture and mostly plain decor apart from military history displays. Four real ales from the Marston's stable available from a total of ten handpumps on the various counters: the 'house' Lillingstone's Regiment Ale (£3.35), Pedigree, Wainwright and Hobgoblin.

An interesting large traditional pub, which has a military history as this was the birthplace of the Staffordshire Regiment, various photos and memorabilia can be seen throughout the pub. You enter the pub via a covered passageway, from here you take the entrance door on the left. The pub consists of a large front room and main bar, which had exposed ceiling beams and a flagstone floor. There was also a fairly large rear ,which was wallpapered and had painted timber and glass partition walls, looked a bit like a private meeting or function room. There was also a large patio courtyard and conservatory out the back. Four ales on handpump from Marston's, Bank's Sunbeam, Pedigree, EPA and a house ale, so nothing over adventurous ale wise on this visit.
