Once you manage the stairs down to the bar area, you're ok. The service in here was very efficient on our Thursday evening visit, plus I spotted some decent choices of ales across the 10 handpumps. For example Moorhouse's Blonde Witch and Witches Brew, Nottingham Legend, Phoenix Altitude, Loddon Hocus Pocus Old Ale. I went for the Moorhouse's Witches Brew and the Phoenix Altitude. The bar area had a white counter top, which looked very trendy and a timber lattice patterned bar front.

Modern fit out of a Spoons, making it different, but fittings feel a little cheap. Large space on an L shape, with some separation, again unusual. Good beer and service

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Railway Hotel (JD Wetherspoon)
Always a pub / hotel, but this still looks appealing despite the semi-modern 'spoons makeover (both inside and out). Various small(ish) seating / dining areas around the central servery, with the only gripes being the numerous small level changes and a very tortuous route to the gents' toilet. Fair selection from the two banks of five handpumps, from which the Lancaster Red (£2.15) seemed like the best bet.
