A touristy bar on the Royal Mile but has a couple of redeeming features. It's long and thin with the counter to one side and of course given the location majors on food until later. Three very average beers from the Caledonian are available but the three shelves bulging with malts and a whisky friendly landlord save the bar from abject mediocrity.

Don't know if its had a refurb since the review below but the bar was smart/clean enough on my visit. The bar area is at the front with a dining area to the rear. 3 real ales and an extensive and potentially expensive selection of whisky. Food served. Located on the royal mile

A 2-room pub in a priome location on the Royal Mile, Albanach has a great deal of potential which just isn't realised. It caters solely for the tourists, presumably working on the theory that it doesn't matter whether they come back. It's shabby inside and the jukebox is calculated to deter anyone whose hearing still works. The staff are unprofessional and rude. The beers are badly kept - there were three ales on, and 2 of them, teh Belhaven 80/- and Deuchres IPA were so bad as to be undrinkable. This must be the worst pub on the Mile and one of Edinburgh's least well managed. Leave it to the tourists.
