Old Boots left this review about Clarks Bar

Unspoiled but renovated interior to this classic Victorian bar, there are a couple of screens and piped music but otherwise it’s stepping back decades. Nice plain panelled counter to the right, the two pulls are a bit hidden round the front corner, three T-bars dominate the show with a mixed bunch of kegs, the only cask was from a local brewery called Winton, nothing to do with Hampshire by the way, the other had a reversed clip. A host of original fittings here, coving, panelling and a splendid bar back, mostly button back leather banquettes and wooden furniture. I realised I was sitting in a seat shown in an old photo on the opposite wall which was a bit disturbing. Basement toilets.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Clarks Bar

Interesting pub located a bit of a walk north from the city centre, but worth it because the heritage interior has been smartened up a bit in a sympathetic way. Mostly banquette seating with small tables around the periphery of the main bar area, but the two rear snugs offer other options. Also has interesting murals on both sides of the staircase down to the toilets. Just Jack Back from Stewart Brewing (£4.50) available from the three handpumps after a busy pre-Christmas weekend, but some interesting craft keg options also available.

Another great find. Doesnt look much from the outside, but large inside with a couple of fine rooms off the back. Long bar with a selection of English Guest ales first noticed. Excellent Theakstons XB.

Football on discreetly and a selection of newspapers to read through. Comfortable place and would come back.

Another of my regular haunts when I worked just across the road on Fettes Row, in fact I had my leaving do here way back in 1997. Pleased to report that little has changed in the intervening years. One main room with a couple of smaller rooms to the rear, all nicely decorated. Always a friendly welcome in here and the same was true on this occasion despite me not having visited for something like 15 years. 3 beers available on the handpumps. My pint was in excellent nick. I'm very pleased to find it pretty much as it was.

Another very good Edinburgh pub, a GBG regular popular with locals and workers from the nearby offices. It's a bit of a time-warp: the steep stairs, brewery mirrors and arty murals in the corridor make you feel like you've stepped back into the 1960s. Excellent beer - 4 ales on, all well kept. The Deuchres 80/- was particularly good this time around. Well recommended for inclusion in a crawl or a good night out on its own merits.
