The William Peverel (JD Wetherspoon), Bulwell, Nottingham

Looks like a new building of an unusual design featuring a high central hall with a vaulted ceiling, but it is apparently a shop conversion. Decor includes some baronial elements and a modern stained-glass artwork. Reasonable mix of seating, though, and a patio beer garden to rear. Ten handpumps, but a pretty dull and duplicated range (of the Ruddles, Deuchar's IPA, Bombardier, Spitfire and Abbot variety) enlivened only by the local Dukeries Pale (£1.99).

The William Peverel is a Wetherspoons pub that is situated on the main shopping street in Bulwell. The pub opened about a year ago and it has improved the real ale scene in Bulwell. Once inside there is a fairly large room with the bar running down the right side,there are tall tables and chairs near the bar and normal tables and chairs throughout the rest of the pub,there is also a small area to the rear of the pub which had more comfortable seating. The stand out feature of the pub is a large wood carved horse and knight who as an arrow through his eye. There were two banks of five pumps on the bar but not a lot of choice with there only being two guest beers on,i had a drink of Milestone Loxley Ale which was a fairly nice drink,the other beers i noted were Ruddles bitter x2,GK Abbot x2,Hobgoblin x2 and one more guest beer. The pub was very busy on my mid afternoon visit and most people were drinking. I found this to be a decent enough Spoons but it was lacking in choice of decent beers. Pub visited 4/12/2012
