The Globe, Warwick

Recently refurbished. L-shaped interior with plenty of statement pieces - wood burning stove, steampunk chandelier, horizontal pine tongue and groove panelling and some very dark green, almost black, walls and ceilings. Front part of the pub is for drinking, rear part is formal dining. Well-done courtyard area makes for the best imbibing spot. Four ales on, three from Marstons stable - 2x Ringwood and Wychwood Hobgoblin with a local ale - Church Farm IPA - at a faintly ludicrous £2.10 a half and not even that well-kept. Far too expensive and pretentious for me.

This classy,outlandish pub and steakhouse which was once the rundown Globe,has a slick bar area with quirky decor complete with a plastic piebald cow in the smart garden area.Called in around 8pm on Good Friday and found the place extremely busy particularily the dining area, and was quite congested at the bar which had 5 casks on,of which i found the Butty Bach from the Wye Brewery on top form.Due to the limited space and shortage of seats,thought with it being a decent evening would sit in the garden area.After about 10 mins the Wife spilled part of her drink,and a few minutes later a barmaid came out with a fresh drink free of charge which was sent by the manager,which we both thought was a grand gesture.definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
