Steve C left this review about The Globe

The Globe is a pub and pizza restaurant with a focal open pizza kitchen to the side of the entrance. The central L-shaped bar counter supports premium and craft keg alongside three hand pumps that were drawing London Pride, Oliver’s Island and Seafarers. The friendly barman informed me that this isn’t a Fuller’s pub but Oakham, who do own the pub, have an agreement with them. Out the front is lots of seating that overlooks the superior Eagle Inn micro opposite. I was one of the only customers late evening on a recent Sunday with the diners all long gone. Worth a punt if after pizza and a pint I suppose.

A modern gastropub. The pub is in 3 parts with a front area used mainly for dining, a middle narrow part and a rear area where you will find the bar. An outside area is also to the rear. 4 real ales on but sadly they were standard nationals.

Now owned by a London based firm called Oakman. This is a large modern style pub consisting of a central bar with the dining room running along the front and down one side of the bar. The rear lounge had a modern log burning stove, leather settees and large low tables and sage green wall panelling. The young barman was friendly and chatty and made us very welcome. Four handpumps on the bar, with three in use. We went for the locale Church Farm Pale Ale which was in great shape. Their two other ales on were London Pride and George Gale Seafarers ale. A well kept pub, with well kept ale.

Recently refurbished. L-shaped interior with plenty of statement pieces - wood burning stove, steampunk chandelier, horizontal pine tongue and groove panelling and some very dark green, almost black, walls and ceilings. Front part of the pub is for drinking, rear part is formal dining. Well-done courtyard area makes for the best imbibing spot. Four ales on, three from Marstons stable - 2x Ringwood and Wychwood Hobgoblin with a local ale - Church Farm IPA - at a faintly ludicrous £2.10 a half and not even that well-kept. Far too expensive and pretentious for me.

peter ashworth left this review about The Lazy Cow

This classy, outlandish pub and steakhouse which was once the rundown Globe, has a slick bar area with quirky decor complete with a plastic piebald cow in the smart garden area.Called in around 8pm on Good Friday and found the place extremely busy particularily the dining area, and was quite congested at the bar which had 5 casks on,of which i found the Butty Bach from the Wye Brewery on top form.Due to the limited space and shortage of seats, thought with it being a decent evening would sit in the garden area. After about 10 mins the Wife spilled part of her drink, and a few minutes later a barmaid came out with a fresh drink free of charge which was sent by the manager, which we both thought was a grand gesture.definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
