The Roebuck Inn, Burton On Trent Town, Burton on Trent

Next to the station and pretty much as Quinno describes, I counted eight handpumps on the bar offering up five beers on my visit, Abbot Ale Pedigree, Burton Ale, Bass and Oakham Bishops Farewell, I played safe with the Oakham beer and it was fine. Not by any means a classic pub but worth the look.

A timewarp locals pub that looks 1976 both outside and in. Connoisseurs will find much to admire in the mostly untouched 70s refit, replete with velveteen banquette seating with inbuilt heaters, varnished tongue and groove ceiling, striped curtains and old skool ales from Theakston, Greene King, Bass, Marston and what I assumed to be a recreation of Ind Coop Burton ale which whilst in good nick (NBSS 3.5) was a ghastly buttery thing not fit to lick the originals boots. Friendly landlady. Plenty of good pubs in Burton, this one doesn’t demand top billing but it's good crawl fodder. 6.5
