Watering Trough

Watering Trough

As Soup Dragon states, this pub has an odd layout as it almost looks like the pub has been built around the snug area! There are two rooms, a large public bar on the right and a small snug type room on the left, the pub has a central bar counter that... [more>]

A brilliant Black Country Ales pub since 2008, parts of the building date from the 1620’s but it was first used as a public house around the beginning of the 1700’s and was named The Green Dragon until 2006. The interior is a small open plan room wit... [more>]

Unfortunately because this pubs cellar is actually quite small is the reason why there is only three ales on at any one time and the guy in charge has a great selection coming up over the next few months. A bloody marvellous place with the three afor... [more>]

The Benleva is well hidden on an estate near Loch Ness, and appears a little nondescript from the outside, but inside it is pure gold. It is a regualr entry in GBG and is famousd for its beer festivals - it is regrettable that I am not here for the ... [more>]

Very impressive pub with beautiful tiled exterior and is in the 2010 Good Beer Guide. Loved the interior with lots of rooms radiating from the horseshoe bar. Friendly staff and I enjoyed the Lancater Blonde here.

This pub is in the 2010 Good Beer Guide, but is a large barn of a place with little atmosphere. Had Geltsdale Brampton bitter which was the only guest available. The other beer was Greene King IPA so I was disappointed with the choice in such a big... [more>]

Called in as it was on my route and suprised to find a decent choice of beer other than the usual suspects. Enjoyed Cumberland Breweries Corby Ale, a new brewery for me, and Jennings Lakeland Stunner.

No Atmosphere, Nice decor although not in keeping with a 600 year old building. Food mediocre and staff not very friendly. Agree with the previous review that drinkers are not welcome.

Nice historic building although quite clearly neglected. Upstairs looks like a squat due to the blankets which act as curtains, also pigeons living in the loft Yeuch. Food OK for what they charge however staff are not very friendly, Pub is nice but o... [more>]

Large one roomer converted from a church. It's retained a lot of the original features around the walls including burial plaques etc, but any character it had in the centre of the church has been replaced by modern metal & glass walkways. There are s... [more>]

Not far from the canal, it is a bit of a walk from the centre of the City but there is a short cut along the canal to the railway station. Consists of one bar with quite a bit of timber beams and columns partially separating up the pub. Lots of bits ... [more>]
