Alan Winfield left this review about The Blue Lagoon

After a good walk from Temple Meads station and passing quite a few pubs that had not opened,i finally found a pre 11am opener, the Blue Lagoon.

This is one of two pubs that are on the promenade which is a wide paved area with lots of shops.
Once inside there is an oblong shaped room which is bare boarded, the bar is on the right side, the seating is normal tables and chairs and bench seating, there was a TV to the rear right, there is also another area up a few steps to the rear.
There were no real ales on the bar,but the keg bitter options were different to most pubs i have been in,i had a drink of keg Bath Ales Jem which went down well after a good walk and also getting lost a few times, the other keg bitters were Butcombe Bitter and Doom Bar.
The pub was serving breakfasts which seemed quite poular with most other customers having them.
I was happy enough having a drink here.

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Blue Lagoon

A popular music venue on The Promenade, a small section of Gloucester Road with a very wide pavement leading itself to al fresco seating arrangements. The pub itself is an open plan affair and makes the most of the outside seating opportunities with bifolding doors leading to plenty of chunky wooden benches under a canvas awning and electric heaters. The only downside of this is that smoke from the punters outside tends to drift straight back in to the pub.

The pub itself has paving slabs on the floor that look as though they belong in an outside courtyard. Whether the building was open at one time and has since been covered over I’m not sure. Even a few stone steps at the back look like they belong outside rather than in. It’s a fairly small, open plan pub, with just a single room other than a small snug at the top of those steps. The entire left wall is covered with a panoramic photo of Bristol city centre and there is also what looks as though it could be a small stage area. This, together with the lighting rig on the ceiling indicates that music features prominently.

Decor wise the paintwork is a pale blue colour, and there was a plasma screen on the right as well as a projector screen on the left although this was retracted and not in use. A couple of old leather sofa’s were in the snug, but other than this the seating is conventional tables and chairs.

Beers on tap were Butcombe, Gem and Doom Bar. Ciders were well represented with Wyld Wood, Weston’s Traditional Scrumpy, Blackthorn and Bounders.
