Not been in here for 7 years. It has improved quite a bit. Looks like there has been a recent refurb. Freshly painted cream ceiling really makes the place feel light and welcoming. The second room now benefits from a ceiling covered in a rainbow of various hanging baubels etc. It was busy with dinners and had a nice ambience. Back ground music very quite so as not to over power conversation. 3 draft ales and 1 draft cider plus 2 boxes of the dry stuff. Dave tried the Beer Factory, Above Water which was in good condition. I tried the North Street Cider. All in all a much improved establishment, which I will consider returning to in the future.

The Gallimaufry is just along the promenade from the Blue Lagoon.
This pub opens at 11am so i was in as soon as it opened, once inside there is an oblong shaped room which runs the width of the pub,the room is bare boarded with the bar on the right side, there is a small raised area to the left which has a DJ rig and settees and chairs, the main area has wood bench seating and normal tables and chairs, there is also another area to the rear which is up a few steps.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Siren Craft Undercurrent which went down well, the other beers were Great Heck Mosaic and one from Vibrant Forest.
There was background music playing which was crap.

This is an unusual and somewhat quirky pub. In many ways it has more of a cafe/bar feel to it, not only in terms of decor but also the plate of carrot cake that was sat on the end of the bar and the large coffee machine. Having said that, there didn’t appear to be anyone eating, at least not in the main downstairs bar.

It’s quite light and airy with good sized windows facing out on to the road, and some pine parquet wood flooring. There were a mismatch of tables and chairs, most sporting a candle and a tiny vase of flowers. A montage of band posters covered an overhead beam, and the wall at the far end of the pub was covered in what can only be described as a picture of a zoological orchestra. Besides that there were various miscellaneous items about such as an old film projector and sewing machines.

Upstairs was a smaller, snug like area with some comfy seating, and off to the right a mezzanine level that overlooked the main bar area. This looked as though it may have been more geared up for eating, although we didn’t venture in here. Lamp fittings were a particular oddity especially behind the bar counter. One was an open violin case containing a small doll, the body of the doll being lit.

Beers on tap were Bath’s Gem, Brain’s Milkwood and Battledown’s Sunbeam. Ciders were Addlestones and Symonds Founders Reserve.
