Real Ale Ray left this review about Prince Of Wales

The very striking looking exterior mural caught our eye and once we spotted some well known brewery locos incorporated, we decided to make a visit. Glad we did as there were two banks of six handpumps, with a choice of six ales. I spotted the Castle Combe Brewery Bybrook Bitter, which was a wise choice. The interior of the pub was traditional in style and has retained the original bar counter and some stained glass windows along the front. The barman was friendly and also helpful with some directions around the area.

Blackthorn _ left this review about Prince Of Wales

Located just at the bottom of Gloucester Road near The Arches, this is a striking looking pub being entirely covered in a colourful mural. Until recently this had an aquatic theme, but now shows a number of beer engines which seems rather more relevant. Nonetheless, despite the exterior, it is in fact quite a traditional pub and not as “alternative” as you may expect.

Internally it’s a single room, L-shape pub with dark wooden boards on the floor along with a few mottled tiles around the bar area. The walling is predominantly wood panelling that has been painted dark green, with a small strip of cream plasterwork above. Stained glass windows are at the front of the pub and a couple of large blackboards listed the available ales and wines. Some partition walling creates a few cosy corners and there is also a courtyard garden at the rear which is largely covered and this also has colourful murals on a couple of the walls.

Beers on this occasion were Beerd Cubic, Gem, Butcombe Gold, Butcombe Moxee and Otter Amber. Ciders on tap were Ashton Press and Addlestones along with another four served directly from boxes stacked up behind the bar.
