Another of Castleford town centre pubs which used to have a thriving custom up until the opening of the Xscape complex on the outskirts of town. The Mexborough has struggled for the last 3 to 4 years, and has had a few periods of closure of late. Agency landlords seem to come and go monthly.
My first photo was taken in June 04 & the second in January 08.
The Mexborough has had a FOR SALE sign over it's door for the major part of 2007, and it's long term future as a pub looked grim. The pub is now open again and the FOR SALE sign has gone, so hopefully, The Mexborough has a new breath of life!
