A friendly locals pub that started out life as two terraced houses, now knocked into one to form the pub. The left hand side is the tap room with a pool table, darts & skittles. The right hand side has more of a lounge feel. We were greeted by the very friendly pub dog. Personally I like pub dogs and think that a pub dog or cat adds character to a place, but each to their own. I enjoyed my visit here and whilst the ale range isn't as good as several other pubs in Rugby the quality was very good. A good solid pub and one I'd definitely consider visiting again next time we're in Rugby.

This is a compact, single room local's boozer with what appears to have been a previous two room layout. The knocking through into one room has created a games area to the left of the pub and the main bar space on the right hand side. The left hand side has exposed floorboards, a neat stone fireplace and a dartboard. Seating was fairly simple, with a few pews along the walls and some standard chairs elsewhere. In the rear corner there is a table skittles game which someone was kind enough to give us a demonstration of, allowing us to all enjoy a game. A mid section has a single banquette next to a fireplace with a simple mirror above. A pool table dominated this space whilst a TV showed a World Cup fixture with the commentary quietly playing in the background. The bar area is a little cramped, with space for a drinking ledge alongside the servery and a small recess to the front with a comfier looking chair which seemed to have been claimed by a very friendly pub dog who offered a tail-wagging welcome to us on arrival. There is another fireplace here and a second TV showing the same match was hung near the bar.
Just the two ales on hand pump here - Hook Norton Hooky and Courage Best. It might not be the most enticing ale line up in town, but the Hooky was in pretty good shape and definitely enhanced my skittles skills.
This is the sort of pub where you know exactly what you're going to get and if you're looking for a solid, reliable boozer with friendly locals, pool & darts and sports on TV, this is a really good option to have. A 'mid-table' kind of pub, but one that I'm glad I visited.

Alan Winfield left this review about Half Moon

The Half Moon is a smallish town pub that is a short walk from the town centre.
Once inside there is a smallish L shaped room, there was some narrow bench seating to the front right and a pool table and darts board to the front left, the floor was part tiled and bare boarded.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Hook Norton bitter which went down very well, the other beers were Black Sheep bitter and Courage best.
There was some decent background music playing,a couple of friendly locals who were playing pool directed me to a couple of out of town pubs.
The friendly pub dog bothered me during my Saturday dinner visit,i dont like dogs and definatly dont like being bothered by them while i am drinking.
This is a decent locals pub.
