Ye Olde Robin Hood, Telford

Holden's pub with two main rooms and two smaller rooms off one of the main rooms. One of the smaller rooms has a mural of the area (centred around the Ironbridge) around the walls. Ceilings had wooden beams and wooden floors throughout. There was an inglenook fireplace with a flat screen TV over. Service was friendly, food was typical pub grub. On handpull there was Holden's Bitter, Golden Glow and Mild. I would happily go back.

Badged as a freehouse but signed as and selling Holdens excellent ales in good condition, plus the inevitable keg range . There is a large square area on entering with a dining area to the side although the pub is all pretty much that way inclined. Through an opening to the left is a more comfortable lounge with upholstered benches as well as more brown tables and chairs. The bar counter is straight ahead when you enter, there are a few seats and bar stools here and at the back right is another little cubby hole with an odd mural showing the iron bridge and gorge. Décor in black beams and white plaster with pictures and prints of the area and big screens in both main areas. The terrace was filled with younger drinkers while the more respectable middle aged ones were indoors.

Smart locals pub away from the main Wharfage area. Low ceilings with exposed timbers, photo's and maps of old Ironbridge along with the history of the pub on the walls. It's a Holdens pub and was serving the Bitter and Golden Glow. As is common with Holdens pubs it had a sign up claiming that the guest beer was Golden Glow which of course it isn't as it's brewed by Holdens. I had a pint of the “guest” which was pretty good. Nice enough place which is probably packed in summer as it has a nice terrace.

This Holden's house is just out of town and overlooks the river next to the new bridge. Guest, mainly local, real ales also available. Good basic food at very reasonable prices. Car parking available at the eastern end of the pub, though exiting the car park can be awkward at time due to its location. They also have a small terrace with tables & benches at the front from where you can see the river. Folk music about once a month.
