Quite a large pub, seemingly two buildings combined, with a stripped-back, alehouse feel to it. In contrast to the previous reviewer, I felt it was a bit cliquey here, but this was probably because of a group clustered around the counter, which may be just a temporary thing. My beer was poured a bit short, with no offer of a top up from what I took to be an inexperienced young server, but the landlady stepped in and topped me up without being asked, which is a good point. But when I started on my beer it was evident that it was frothy because it had been put on too soon, so was not a pleasant drink. Added to the persistent and too loud modern synthetic pop music, this did not make for a successful pub visit.

After a very steep descent down from the Golden Ball, we arrived at this Holden's pub which is adjacent to a bridge (not the Ironbridge) across the River Severn.

Numerous groups were eating outside on tables next to the pubs lengthy car park, suggesting that there'd been a bit of a rush not long before our arrival. The numbers eating alfresco were surprising given the air still had a bit of a chill to it.

We needn't have worried, as there were plenty of available tables indoors. Despite being nearer the tourist areas, this place seemed much more friendly than the Golden Ball, which had felt a little cliquey.

Black Country Bitter & Golden Glow are the two real ales. There was no real cider.

Given where we were, I found it a little amusing listening to Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water coming from the speakers. The ensuing track had no bridge references at all, much to my disappointment!

A really interesting Holden's Brewery multi-phased period building, which gives it a dog-leg angle. Has a patio. The interior has several open areas although most seem set up for dining. The serving bar is in the area you enter, which is where we sat. There was a nice brickwork fireplace feature and there were ts (not on). White, beams, flag floor, some wood panel - traditional decor. Service was fine and a few locals were in. Beer was tap stuff (some Holden's) and Golden Glow, Summer Buzz, MILD and Bitter on pull. Sadly, the Mild was a bit warm. A nice place and one I would come back to when a little cooler!

This fine old Inn is a solitary Western outpost for Holden's brewery. Inside there was a small bar area with a room off to the right which could all potentially be very pleasant indeed were it not for the fact that there was a highly obtrusive TV screen on the left blaring out some football rubbish. Of course nobody seemed to be watching, they just have it on probably to justify the sky high subscriptions they have to shell out to the Dirty Digger. I didn't investigate further but sat in the smoking area at the front. The four main Holden's beers were on, Mild, Bitter, Golden Glow and Special together with a seasonal beer The Man With The Holden Gun. I went for the Mild (£2.60) and the seasonal beer (£2.70) both in good nick and served in lined glasses.
If it wasn't for the TV screen this could be a very good pub, it is far too obtrusive in the small bar area. This is a pub in a semi-rural tourist area that is also part of a World Heritage site not some grubby dive in the centre of Romford.

Holden's pub with two main rooms and two smaller rooms off one of the main rooms. One of the smaller rooms has a mural of the area (centred around the Ironbridge) around the walls. Ceilings had wooden beams and wooden floors throughout. There was an inglenook fireplace with a flat screen TV over. Service was friendly, food was typical pub grub. On handpull there was Holden's Bitter, Golden Glow and Mild. I would happily go back.

Busy roadside pub - nothing particularly wrong with it but didn't feel especially wonderful. Following descriptions all pretty accurate still.

Badged as a freehouse but signed as and selling Holdens excellent ales in good condition, plus the inevitable keg range . There is a large square area on entering with a dining area to the side although the pub is all pretty much that way inclined. Through an opening to the left is a more comfortable lounge with upholstered benches as well as more brown tables and chairs. The bar counter is straight ahead when you enter, there are a few seats and bar stools here and at the back right is another little cubby hole with an odd mural showing the iron bridge and gorge. Décor in black beams and white plaster with pictures and prints of the area and big screens in both main areas. The terrace was filled with younger drinkers while the more respectable middle aged ones were indoors.

Smart locals pub away from the main Wharfage area. Low ceilings with exposed timbers, photo's and maps of old Ironbridge along with the history of the pub on the walls. It's a Holdens pub and was serving the Bitter and Golden Glow. As is common with Holdens pubs it had a sign up claiming that the guest beer was Golden Glow which of course it isn't as it's brewed by Holdens. I had a pint of the “guest” which was pretty good. Nice enough place which is probably packed in summer as it has a nice terrace.

John Horton left this review about Ye Old Robin Hood

This Holden's house is just out of town and overlooks the river next to the new bridge. Guest, mainly local, real ales also available. Good basic food at very reasonable prices. Car parking available at the eastern end of the pub, though exiting the car park can be awkward at time due to its location. They also have a small terrace with tables & benches at the front from where you can see the river. Folk music about once a month.
