Quite a large pub, seemingly two buildings combined, with a stripped-back, alehouse feel to it. In contrast to the previous reviewer, I felt it was a bit cliquey here, but this was probably because of a group clustered around the counter, which may be just a temporary thing. My beer was poured a bit short, with no offer of a top up from what I took to be an inexperienced young server, but the landlady stepped in and topped me up without being asked, which is a good point. But when I started on my beer it was evident that it was frothy because it had been put on too soon, so was not a pleasant drink. Added to the persistent and too loud modern synthetic pop music, this did not make for a successful pub visit.

After a very steep descent down from the Golden Ball, we arrived at this Holden's pub which is adjacent to a bridge (not the Ironbridge) across the River Severn.

Numerous groups were eating outside on tables next to the pubs lengthy car park, suggesting that there'd been a bit of a rush not long before our arrival. The numbers eating alfresco were surprising given the air still had a bit of a chill to it.

We needn't have worried, as there were plenty of available tables indoors. Despite being nearer the tourist areas, this place seemed much more friendly than the Golden Ball, which had felt a little cliquey.

Black Country Bitter & Golden Glow are the two real ales. There was no real cider.

Given where we were, I found it a little amusing listening to Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water coming from the speakers. The ensuing track had no bridge references at all, much to my disappointment!

A really interesting Holden's Brewery multi-phased period building, which gives it a dog-leg angle. Has a patio. The interior has several open areas although most seem set up for dining. The serving bar is in the area you enter, which is where we sat. There was a nice brickwork fireplace feature and there were ts (not on). White, beams, flag floor, some wood panel - traditional decor. Service was fine and a few locals were in. Beer was tap stuff (some Holden's) and Golden Glow, Summer Buzz, MILD and Bitter on pull. Sadly, the Mild was a bit warm. A nice place and one I would come back to when a little cooler!
