This is, I think, a relatively recent opening, or at least one that I have only recently become aware of. It was at one time known as the Warehouse Eurostyle Club Pub which didn’t really inspire me to pay it a visit, and since then has been both XclusiV and Skinny Dippers.
Internally it consists of a couple of rooms, with the larger one including the bar counter at the front. First impressions are that everything is very green due to the lighting used, and it was hence difficult to determine what the natural colour of things should be, with everything having a green hue to some degree. Flooring is some type of nondescript linoleum whilst everything else, walls, ceiling and bar counter is covered in pine cladding. Large oversized bottle tops were something of a feature, with a number being affixed to both the walls and ceiling. Most of these featured the pub’s name or those of alcoholic beverages which made sense, but oddly there was also a selfie-style portrait of a couple and a group wedding photo. Seating was fairly minimal with a few basic tables and chairs, and a darts board was on one wall. The smaller room at the back had a pool table and a small DJ booth, so presumably music features on occasions, and I did note that they were open until 4:00 in the morning, seven nights a week. The background music that was playing from a juke box was a tad too loud for easy conversation I thought. A spiral staircase led to a mezzanine floor with some further seating, as well as the loos which unusually had a CCTV camera right above the urinals – is that even legal? The stairs meant that they were inaccessible for my friend who can’t walk very well, so the barmaid kindly offered him a glass to use….I’m not entirely sure if she was joking or not.
Unfortunately, there were no real ales on tap, or even anything in the way of keg options as far as I could see. Ciders fared somewhat better though with Inch’s Medium Apple and a quartet from Thatcher’s – Gold, Cloudy Lemon, Blood Orange and Dark Berry. Plastic glasses were used unfortunately, although they were at least decent quality ones. Overall, handy I suppose if you’re wandering the back streets of Weston in the small hours of the morning and fancy a pint, but it’s not somewhere I’ll be rushing back to.
