Aqualung . left this review about Byrons Rest

This is a long narrow shop conversion with the bar counter at the rear. There is a small snug just to the left as you enter. The seating was low tables and chairs and the barmaid put a Best Of Fleetwood Mac CD on after I sat down. This is a decent sized micropub that wasn't too busy on my early Saturday afternoon visit.
The seven hand pumps had two unused, Black Iris Snake Eyes, Grasshopper Nymph, Titanic Plum Porter, a house beer and rather oddly Marstons Pedigree.
I went for the Titanic Plum Porter (£3.00) which was excellent.
I lied this one and would definitely return.

Byrons rest is a micro pub that is situated opposite Hucknall's Market Place.
Once inside there is a long narrow room which runs to the rear, the floor is part carpeted and bare boarded and the bar is to the rear, the seating is normal tables and chairs.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Full Mash Apparition, which was a decent drink, the other real ales noted were Magpie Jay,Blue Monkey Infinity and Titanic Cappuchino.
The pub was quite busy on my Saturday afternoon visit with lots of Labour supporters in as Jeremy Corbin was about to make a speech on the Market Place.
This is like most other Micro pubs i have been in,OK for a drink but not a prolonged stay.

Formerly a sewing and craft shop, situated opposite the Market Place and church. This Micro consists of three areas, a snug area at the front with a red brick fireplace and log burning stove. A middle seating section with a replica old radio set that played CD's, which was at a low volume. The rear of the pub opens out into a rectangular space with the bar along the rear wall. Separate toilets are found on the left, half way along. The bar was made up from recycled timber and had 5 ales on handpump.
I found the bar area to be poorly lit and could just about see the names of the beers and what brewery they were from. The young barmaid was helpful, my first choice was from Black Iris Brewery and the barmaid explained that it was slightly cloudy. I decided to give it a go, it tasted ok, but there was a very fresh smell of yeast. Maybe they hadn't let it settle for a couple of days or it had left the brewery too early. Nevertheless after some perseverance, she changed it for a Blue Monkey Infinity, which was fine. They also had a choice of four real ciders.
