At some point this was a working grain mill, as the remains of a large steam driven piston can be observed in the left hand side room. Bowland have planned out this large space very well as it has lots of different seating areas to give it that pub theme, unlike most breweries, who tend to leave the main drinking area with an industrial theme.
Other main features in here was the red telephone box, a glass fronted fermentation room, Yorkshire flagstone floor, reclaimed corrugated iron above the back bar, 1970s style lamps above the bar counter. The bar counter had a formica top with a stainless steel edge, the front was plain timber with a stainless steel footrest. The timber handle pumps were for the Bowland Beer and the Black pump handles were for their guest beers. They had 42 handpumps which is astounding, with a choice of 37 different beers. If you want to get a few tasters in, then they offer a paddle of three thirds for £3.40. If you're a Bowland beer fan, which I have been for some years now, even visiting their first brewery in Bashall Eaves, where it all began, then I highly recommend a visit here. They also have a restaurant, shop and hotel, where we stayed, all in the same vicinity.

Holy smoke!!! Basically its a beer festival in a pub. An astonishing 42 handpumps and god knows how many kegs. The place is set in a large hall and there are a fee offshoot rooms. The Bowland Brewery fittings are dotted around the place. The servery is a central island bar and if you're a cask ale fan you'll enjoy. If you're a Camra man/woman you'll wet your pants. It obviously deserves a 10 just for the amount of beers. That said, its a bit overwhelming and its probably not a place to stay for long, despite the beer choice. Noisy, unpublike a a bit corporate. Great beer choice but that's as far as it goes. For me anyway.

The Bowland Brewery Beer Hall opened in early July and is the first phase of a £10 Million plan to
transform Holmes Mill into a 31 bedroom hotel,Restaurant,Spa and Leisure complex.
This is an excellent conversion that retains a large part of the mill's original stone interior and also the impressive engine room which has been restored to it's former glory. This spacious hall is a haven for the real ale buff that boasts 42 cask beer pumps in 7 banks of 6 that are mainly from the local breweries. The hall serves food in all areas including the engine room and the chimney room and is licenced to hold 600
The central serving horseshoe bar is hoping to be officially named as Britain's longest bar and are now waiting for the men from Guinness to arrive with there tape.
The toilets are immaculate and even the other half gave the place a massive thumbs up although she did say the dining chairs in the engine room were very nice but out of character with the rest of the room.
The opening hours for the first month are 12-12 Fri and Sat and 12-8pm on a Sunday but in August are expecting to open 7 days a week.If you are in the Clitheroe area this place is definitely worth a visit
