Swish hotel bar adjacent to the station with its entrance opposite the York Tap. Few changes since Graham’s visit, a change of name and removal of any handpulls being the main ones, high pricing remains of course, £3.40 for a half of Mahou. I don’t know if there was a premium on that as it was a race day, that bouncer has to be paid for after all. Not worth his fee as he let me in, even getting the door for me! A square room in dark grey with a board floor and largely tall seating, a few booths line the windowed front wall with a view across to the city walls. There’s the aforementioned restaurant to one side and a small snug behind on the right. Toilets are behind in the main body of the very posh hotel. The counter is against the outer side wall, home to a single T-bar with Guinness, two from Camden and three latin lagers. Yes not a top spot with the York Tap a few feet away.
