A very large pub with loads of TV screens. The booths at the front all have their own TV on which the channel can be changed by the occupants. Loads of fruit machines as well, thankfully with their volumes turned down. It was rather empty on our Tuesday visit and I was the only person in the place drinking cask ale. 5 ales available and my pint of Moorhouse's IPA was in good nick considering no-one else was drinking it. I don't think it's going to become a regular haunt, but iit's fine for one.

Called in during our week in York and enjoyed Sonnet 43 Impressment and Marstons Revisionist Golden Stout. First time I have been in a bar with a large screen TV st virtually every table, all showing different screens with various sports and news channels.

The Micklegate is a large pub that is situated at the top end of micklegate.
Once inside there is a large square shaped room with the bar on the right side, there is comfy looking bench seating on the left side which is slightly raised, there are tall tables and chairs in the middle area.
There was a very good choice of real ales on the bar,but i failed to note all,i had a drink of Camerons Strongarm which went down very well, the other beers i noted were from Crate and Maxim brewerys.
The pub was packed on my early Saturday evening visit so it was hard to get a proper feel to the place.
I would happily return here at a quieter time.
