Lovely pub with good food and beer. Big conservatory to the rear and plenty of seating.2 real ales and an absolute forest of keg fonts line the bar. My Wadswoth - Corvus stout(keg) was excellent.Nice one.

There were two ales on – the rarely seen Truman Runner and Sharp’s Own. The Truman Runner was better than I expected, but at the increasingly normal price for this area of £3.60 a pint. This place advertises itself as a “Pub, Dining and Garden” venue. So, the lunch menu is printed daily and placed in little black folders on the tables, and state that an optional service charge of 12.5% will be added to your bill. It’s that sort of place. Sandwiches are £5 - £6, and main meals are between £10 and £17.50. The cheapest meal was burger and chips at £10. There are no fruit machines or others of that ilk spoiling the upmarket feel, although there was some varied pop music being played, and when the rap track came on it just seemed highly out of place.
Obviously the interior has been given a modern makeover, with the ceiling and one wall being painted a tasteful black, but the parquet flooring, bar counter and iron columns look as if they might be original features. The bar counter is on the left as you enter, with some seating in front of it which looks as if it is the area to be used by drinkers. There’s more seating to the right and rear of the bar counter where tables were laid for diners, and which is clearly the restaurant area. The open plan kitchen is at the back here as well.
This seems to me to be more of a bar/restaurant than a pub, even though they did have a couple of ales on. It’s not a bad place at all, but just not the sort of place where I would want to spend more time than it takes to down a pint.
