Alan Winfield left this review about Phoenix
The Phoenix is a large Smith&Jones pub that is hidden away in the bridgegate centre.
Once inside there is one very large room that runs the whole width of the pub, there is a very long bar facing the entrance, there are normal tables and chairs to the left and tall tables and chairs in the middle section, the far right side has got leather settees.
There were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Morland Original which was a decent enough drink and a bargain at £1.79 a pint, there was music playing at a decent volume and football showing on the large TVs which was on mute.
The only annoying thing was the coffee machine which was making more noise than a jumbo jet taking off.
I quite liked the laid back atmosphere here and prefered it to the Spoons.
