As the name suggests Bar 14 is a late bar aimed at the younger inhabitants of Brighton, of which there are a lot. Being a late bar it doesn’t open until 18:00 Tuesday through to Saturday and 13:00 on Sundays whilst being closed on Mondays. This is a thin place where the bar area is located at the front by the entrance and there is a sofa seating area at the rear. In the middle there is a dance floor with a DJ booth. It was very quiet on the Tuesday evening I visited and the four draught taps were covered with a tea towel so I had to have a bottle of Peroni for £3.20. There are a couple of plasma screens and some upcoming Champions League football matches were advertised, but there is no Sky Sports.
This place is ok for a late bar and I found the staff to be very friendly, but I’m a bit old to be bopping to the latest tunes so I don’t plan a return visit.
