October 2010 - Party of 6 adults on Saturday evening 5.30pm. Seated easily and drinks order taken at table. No starters, just main meals ordered. Varied menu at reasonable prices and served within 15 minutes. Everybody enjoyed their main meal as the food was hot and well presented. Portions were on the good side (and I had BBQ chicken and did'nt get any feathers!) and all plates were clean by the end. Drinks were on the whole reasonable but the price of soft drinks was extortionate for what they were - but this is the case in all Pubs these days! The real disappointment of the meal was in the deserts. Average price of desert was about £3.60 but the sizes were very small and a request for a top up of custard (as half a pot was not enough to cover the slice of Apple Pie) was met with a request for a supplementary payment (which we declined). All in All 7 out of 10 good main meals but skimpy on the deserts.

i was totally unimpressed by the fallow deers food and service or should i say lack of. The waitresses were very rude. In my food i found 6 medium sized feathers yes i said feathers attached to the chicken that i received from the kitchen and when i informed the waitress that i was unprepared to eat my meal i was rudely spoken to. I received no appologies from any staff and quite frankly im outraged and will not be recommending this pub to anybody nor will i be returning.
