Another traditional pub painted grey - or blue/grey - at least it's not the near-black of the Kings Arms across the road, but really, what were they thinking? This is a hotel and restaurant, which didn't promise well as a potential drinking establishment. There was just one hand pump on the bar, with a rather cold Timothy Taylor Landlord (NBSS 2.5). At £4.80 a pint, not quite the most expensive beer of my day in this area: there were three around the £3.50 to £4 mark, with the others clustered between £4.80 and £5 clearly thinking themselves a cut above).

I wished I had been here when Alan or Peter were here, 10 or 12 years before. At least I can let other beer drinkers know to stay away. Maybe that's what the blue/grey paint was trying to tell me?

Called in noticed the for sale to let sign outside no one in only a customer lighting the open fire had a ok pint of Marston bitter. Then the place was full of smoke the fire alarm went off they could not stop it four people that had come in for Sunday lunch said they would come back later and went.
Overall this pub looked ok just needed a bit of T.L.C

The Royal Oak is in the middle of Chapel en le Frith and it is signed Burtonwood outside but this is now a Marstons house there are a few handpumps on the bar with beers from the marstons range i tried the Pedigree which was not a bad drink, the pub is fairly smart inside and i thought was ok for more than one drink.
