A converted Georgian town house on the edge of a busy working village, one of a small local chain of 4 similar pubs. The single bar is as described by others, below, though we didn’t notice the piano, and the bar stools have gone. There is a large coffee machine n the bar, though a jar of Nescaffe and a kettle would have been more in keeping. The woodburner made it cosy, while the knocked through room, window casings and tiled floor gave it character. There is a large car park and garden. The staff were really helpful and welcoming, and although they got our food order wrong (misheard ‘brie’ for ‘bream’, causing mild amusement when it arrived) we had an enjoyable meal at a reasonable price. The dogs were also looked after and given snacks. Ales on were Cobb Bitter and Gold from Lyme Regis Brewery, both in very good condition. Very happy to come back here in the future.

A strange place this. Unlike our first two pubs of the day, this place was packed. However, all tables are laid out for diners and it is very much a restaurant that serves decent beer, rather than a pub serving food.

The possibility of securing a table seemed very slim at first, with almost all taken and all stools at the bar also occupied. It wasn't the sort of place where you could just stand and drink anywhere. However, the host found us a table in the corner which he said we could have for 20 minutes.

With just enough time for a swift half, the beer selection was quite impressive considering the focus on food. I'd go as far as to say that it was the most adventurous range we witnessed that day in Dorset.

The 4 real ales were Otter Elf & Head, Exmoor Exmas & Lyme Regis Black Ven. In addition, there was a good range of craft beers and ciders poured from taps on the rear wall of the bar. Mrs S tried a local cider which we'd not seen before.

Full marks for the beer range, but not the most welcoming place for a drinker.

A single L shaped room in a front room style with a domestic looking fireplace, a collection of teapots and a piano. There are a few benches but mainly tables and uncomfortable chairs as food looks to be a big seller here. Well kept beers from Dartmoor, Otter and St Austell. Not many people in when I stopped off for a quick pint so the atmosphere was more than a little stilted.
