Now somewhat run down, this roadside pub is still owned by Palmer’s but is far from being one of their top pubs. The carpark at the side is unkempt and looks like a dumping ground, while the yard at the back is suitable only for smoking. Inside, there is a smell of damp, and the décor is well overdue a refresh. There are open fires at both ends, but unlit, these add nothing to the atmosphere. There were three locals in when we visited, all very friendly and welcoming. The landlord was amiable enough, but we got the feeling he was tired with the pub, which used to be a popular music venue but now serves only its locals. Only one ale on, Copper, which was in OK condition, while the other two hand pumps were dry. Two ciders from Orchard Press were also on draft, plus there were a couple of keg ciders on. We were lucky to catch it open as it has no regular opening hours. I’m unlikely to revisit in its current state

The Kings Head is on the northern edge of Bridport in the Bradpole area.
This is a decent looking white painted pub that has been done up in a modern style inside.
This pub is a Palmers tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Palmers best bitter which was a decent drink the other beer was bridport bitter.
Its a nice downhill stroll to the middle of Bridport from here.
