Will Larter left this review about 1887 The Brew Room

Although the aims here, including the historical link to the founding of Blackpool FC and using only beers brewed on the premises or from regional brewers rather than international brands, are laudable, the execution, as in so many of Blackpool's pubs, is flawed. Partly this is because of the scale of the place - the original Stanley Arms has been extended into the next two houses, seemingly, and the whole space opened out with the exception of a few remnants of walls and the pillars required to keep the whole building from falling down. When we arrived, a large and raucous party of large and raucous men was occupying the space next to the bar, making it difficult to choose a beer and get served. There are 10 hand pumps, of which nine were in action at the time we arrived, soon to become eight as one of the beers we ordered ran out. There are also some keg taps on the bar back, one of which is for their own lager, served from a tank, plus several German beers in different styles. Everything was reasonably priced but the service was sloppy, with lively real ales being served through tight sparklers resulting in huge foaming heads and overflowing drip trays. The staff were doing their best, but with the pub being so busy they were constantly managing a crisis and this contributed to the sloppiness. On the beer front, there was a sameness about the real ales, all of which were pale and hoppy, with the exception of their own Oystons StOUT, a blueberry flavoured stout whose name riffs on the ongoing campaign by Seasiders supporters to have their owners, the Oystons, kicked out of the club. I had a half in solidarity.

The former Stanley Arms Hotel & latterly former Blue Room is now called 1887 Brew Room. The Brew Room is where Blackpool Football Club was originally formed (then called The Stanley Arms Pub). The pub only serves beers and ales that are either brewed on site or by regional brewers – no ales from major international brands are available. It also offers a specialist cocktails, ciders and spirits alongside a separate chocolate bar serving milkshakes and coffees, and a smokehouse offering food. The former Blackpool Mayor Robert Wynne has opened the pub and micro-brewery in one of the town’s most historic buildings. The place has its own micro-brewery called “West Coast Rock Brewery".

Its a lot cleaner than it was but the rock music is far too loud on a Wednesday night with just 3 in
