Alex Conway left this review about Larwood & Voce Tavern

The Larwood and voce is part of a small chain of pubs called Moleface. I have been to one of their other pubs the other side of the city and was rather impressed. It is located on the corner of Trent Bridge Cricket ground and is the exact opposite corner to the Trent bridge inn pub. This is far less well known as this end of the ground is more in the back streets as opposed to the busy main road so gets a ,lot less footfall that its neighbour pub. Like the pub in Wollaton and other in the chain it has a rather high end feel to it and has a restaurant to the left hand side serving quality gastro food. The main bar area greets you as you enter and is one medium sized oblong shaped room with the bar facing you and running along the back wall. The decor is rather pleasant with lots of cream wallpaper and solid had wood floors as well some nice fixtures and fittings such as expensive large wall mounted mirrors and proper solid wood tables and chairs give this place a quality feel. There is also a rather nice seating are at the end of the bar room up a slight level with long leather sofas. Beer wise there were four ales available and these were Castle Rock Harvest pale, Timothy Taylors Landlord, Home brewery’s Marion pale ale and Maoleface ale brewed for them by nearby Magpie Brewery. I opted for The landlord that was expensive at £3.80 but this is Trent bridge and in one of the most expensive parts of the city so it was slightly less of a sock. The barman started pouring my friends Strongbow in a glass until the barrel ran out and then proceeded to tip it into a plastic jug before topping it up. He then went to do the same with me and my friends Landlord saying that Nottingham Forest had just finished and they would be serving in plastic for the next few hours. Understandably I was pretty pissed off at this and contested but to no avail! We sat outside and drank our expensive beer in our stupid plastic cups while a dozen or so well behaved wealthy Forest supporters (You need a fir bit of money to to buy drinks in here) came and quietly drank their beers without bother!! The beer was ok bit not fantastic and the taste of the plastic cup ruined it for me! On a quite evening sat inside I can imagine it is a lot better but because of situations and the bad taste left in my mouth (physically and metaphorically) it gets docked a point. Worth doing but pick your days and times to avoid disappointment.

Alan Winfield left this review about Larwood & Voce Tavern

The Larwood and Voce Tavern was built in the mid 80s by Home Ales brewery.
This pub backs onto Trent Bridge cricket ground and the pub has a bit of a cricket theme to it.
Once inside the pub still has its two room layout, the bar is to the right, this is a smart room that has got comfy leather bench seating in one large bay with large tables, there is also a small raised area to the front right.
There was a large screen which was showing the end of the grand national,so i am not sure if this is always on show.
The lounge to the left is now more of a dining room.
There were five pumps on the bar with two unclipped and one with its clip turned round, this left two real ales,i had a drink of Magpie Proper Moleface which was a nice well kept beer, the other beer was Black Sheep bitter.
The pub was quite busy with a good mix of age ranges.
I was quite happy having a drink in here and could have settled in for a few more if not on a pub crawl.
