Very much a no-frills community local with a strong local following and numerous entertainments including karaoke. The rather plain 1930's exterior conceals a rather plain 1980's interior, clean and in a good state of decoration but lacking much atmosphere. The main room is knocked through into one, with a fireplace and partition showing where separate rooms used to be. The bar is fronted in dark varnished wood, while the walls are in featureless white and cream. Round the edges runs a leatherette banquette and tables are square steel framed laminate, although at least the chairs have been reupholstered albeit in a vivid shade of orange. Several sports TVs hang on the walls and a dartboard is tucked round the back. Function room and garden signed at rear but not visited. Draught beer is confined to Courage Best and London Pride, but at least seemed to be in fair condition and the locals were friendly enough.

Old, tired and very tatty, interior colour of choice 'nicotine yellow' - and that's not from the Dulux colour wheel either. Could be a decent boozer with a bit of effort, but it looks like the heart of the place was ripped out long ago. A couple of ales were on, and my Spitfire was surprisingly good given what I was expecting. Apparently has a function room and a beer garden. I didn't hang around long enough to check them out though and they will have to remain a mystery because I'm not going back.
